Originally from Costa Rica and based in Boston, Esteban brings 10+ years of experience at McKinsey and is completing his MBA at Boston University. He leads UNITINO's administrative, financial, and governance work, keeping the organization efficient, compliant, and focused on its mission.

★ Fun fact: he's a die-hard soccer fan and never misses a Costa Rica match.

Karla Chamorro Garcia, MD

Founder & Board Member - Internal medicine resident

Cambridge Health Alliance

Now training in Boston as an internal medicine resident and a Harvard Teaching Fellow at Harvard Medical School, Karla draws on a path that took her through work as a community health worker, medical assistant, and artist. That journey fuels her commitment to mentorship and advocacy for a more equitable path in medicine.

★ Fun fact: she became a mixed-media artist during residency.

Marcelo Ramirez, MD

Endocrinology, UChicago Medicine

Marcelo cares for patients with complex endocrine conditions at the University of Chicago Medicine, where he also helps train the next generation of physicians. He brings UNITINO a commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care and a deep passion for medical education.

★ Fun fact: A world traveler and sports enthusiast, he's currently learning Italian.

Cesar Guerra Castillo

Program Manager Mass General Brigham

At Mass General Brigham, Cesar leads four community-driven programs on hypertension, diabetes, substance use, and colorectal cancer, pairing clinical care with nutrition counseling, workforce development, and social support, because lasting change starts locally.

★ Fun fact: He'll try a new destination, cuisine, or a game with a classic film on.

Daniel Vasquez, MD

Co-Founder & Board Member - Chief Resident,

Family Medicine, Hamilton Medical Center

Born and raised in Costa Rica, Daniel earned his MD from UCIMED and practiced for four years before matching into a U.S. residency as an international medical graduate. Now Chief Resident and pursuing a Sleep Medicine fellowship, he mentors future IMGs with the guidance he wishes he'd had.

★ Fun fact: he once hiked to Cerro Chirripó, the highest peak in Costa Rica.

Rodolfo Eduardo Arce, MD

Co-Founder & Board Member · Internal Medicine Resident,

PGY-2, FIU / Baptist Health

Rodolfo earned his MD from UCIMED in Costa Rica, where he led community health initiatives before matching into internal medicine in Miami. Now engaged in cardiology research and building a free clinic in South Florida, he helps open U.S. medicine to the next generation of IMGs.

★ Fun fact: In his spare time, he's an avid scuba diver.
